Thank for your editorial. I will be sharing it with others here. You do count and so do all people working to make our motto true. E Pluribus Unam

  2. Bigotry comes in all colors and forms and someone suggesting I should purchase anything based on a person’s skin color, race, religion and/or sexual orientation is just that, bigotry. Bad is bad and good is good. I don’t make my decisions on anything but that, and your suggesting that I should, is ignorant. I will not be viewing this site any longer and I will never renew my subscription to Yankee Magazine

    1. When someone says Italian Cuisine for a restaurant no one cries racist, they run to the North End and make a reservation. When someone says a Pet Store, no one says bigoted. This magazine, although they have never interviewed my business, puts things in categories or what are venues. As an ex-magazine owner, I did the same thing. If the category or venue is entertainment, you wouldn’t put a pet store in that article. Today we are filled with so much hate and anger that we run to the negative against someone instead of supporting the good work. Yankee has been doing this work for years and they are fair to all their readership. Whether it is your something you are interest in or not, let’s keep supporting their work. Just my opinion.

  3. Thank you for promoting businesses in Maine. However, this is a literal copy and paste from a website we created. Perhaps give credit to where you found this information? You may also want to double check as the information is also OUTDATED.

    1. Hi Rose. Thank you for your comment. In an effort to create a list for all six states, our Guide to Black-Owned Businesses in New England is a compilation of existing resources and our own research. There is a tab within the document where we list Sources/Resources, and Black Owned Maine is the first one credited. We apologize that the sourcing for the list was unclear, and have added additional language to this page and to the top line of the spreadsheet to clarify where the information came from. At the time we made the document, many businesses were temporarily closed due to Covid-related restrictions or concerns. A thorough audit is planned for next week to make sure that all information is still correct. Thank you again, and have a great weekend.

  4. The Manchester NAACP have worked with the state of New Hampshire to create a statewide Black-owned business list. It is available at http://naacpmanchesternh.com/businesses. We are using it to advertise businesses and work with them to provide funding and technical assistance to ensure their success. Please spread the word so we can bring the resources of the NAACP and the state of NH to help these businesses and our state’s economy.

  5. I am looking for lists of business in the US owned by people from Tanzania and Uganda. Happy to pay for the lists. Please let me know. I appreciate the help
