      1. The best way to freeze blueberries is by spreading them on a cookie sheet(with sides,single layer) and freezing them on the pan for several hours. Then you can put them in a freezer bag once hard. They don’t get crushed and taste great. You may have to do this in several batches if you have a lot. Clean, rinse and dry before freezing. Enjoy.

  1. I grew up in RI and every year during blueberry season my grandmother would make the best dessert I have ever tasted – blueberry slump. Yankee’s editors must have never tasted this delightful concoction of blueberries and sweet dumplings served with either whipped cream or vanilla ice cream or I’m sure it would have made this list. It was often served as dessert after Sunday supper at my grandmother’s house in The Valley. Later in life my kids would eat this stuff until they were “slump drunk” – although I guess it was really just a sugar high.
