Only in New England

email-iconAs an expatriate of Boston, a city I truly enjoy, there has never been a better, more accurate, and funnier story describing Boston than Ken Sheldon’s masterpiece in your September/October issue. Thanks for sharing it with us.

30 Days of Wonder

email-iconFolks, you missed a lot when you canoed right past Greater Springfield in your story on the Connecticut River [September/October, p. 90]. Come visit Holyoke, where the mills and canals have become upscale cafes and river walks.  Stop in West Springfield for the Big E, New England’s agricultural fair, with a midway and great fair food. If you bypass Springfield, you will have missed the Dr. Seuss characters on the Quadrangle, as well as the original Mulberry Street. We are proud of our hometown author.  Visit Forest Park, acres of fall woodlands, ponds, and a zoo.  From the westernmost promontory in the park you will be able to view fall at its best along the river from the Holyoke dam down to Hartford.

I’ve been to the start of the river in Third Lake down to the Sound and I know why so many people visit here.  New Englanders are the luckiest of all—we get to live here.

Falling Into Autumn

email-iconMy September/October issue of Yankee has arrived and I am struck by the simple beauty of the cover. Although I don’t want to say goodbye to summer just yet, the cover’s gorgeous orange hues will help with the transition into the beautiful autumn months ahead.  I look forward to all this issue has to offer.
