A paragon of durability, this Red Sox Hall of Famer played 24 years as a catcher, baseball’s most physically demanding position. Though told he would never play again after suffering a serious knee injury in 1974, Fisk came back just a year later to star in a historic World Series moment: frantically waving the ball fair after hitting what would be the winning home run in game 6 against the Cincinnati Reds.
