When I was a child, my mother took me and my sister up a small peak to pick sweet, wild blueberries every year. Somehow we managed to pick enough berries for a pie or two, but most of the berries ended up in our very full bellies. I had all but forgotten this favorite place until last summer, when on a field trip with my daughter, Ella, we were lucky enough to rediscover this little gem of a mountain in Stoddard. The hike up Pitcher Mountain is perfect for little legs and well worth the slight effort it takes to reach the summit, where the view surrounds you. The blueberries were as plentiful and delicious as I remembered. I think my daughter and I even managed to bring a few handfuls home with us, almost enough for one very small pie.
