Famed as a coastal getaway and home to a number of historic windjammers, Camden may seem like a destination best saved for summer. But its charms go well past the warm-weather months. Fall is a spectacular time, given the mix of harbor views and bright foliage, and beyond that, winter: a season of snowy slopes and fireside relaxation.

Our ideal winter weekend in Camden spans castle-like accommodations, impeccable local boutiques, and multicultural cuisine, plus uphill hikes and downhill runs. To learn more, check out the January/February travel feature “Camden, Maine: Weekend Away.” In the meantime, here are some outtakes from our visit to Camden by photographer Greta Rybus.

  1. Wonderful! We are thinking of moving to the area and the more we see and hear, the more decided about doing so. We’s like to get all the information available about Camden and surrounding areas and plan to buy a house there.

  2. I sailed/crewed The Mary Day from Camden a few years back. Seeing Camden in Winter is equally enjoyable. Thanks much for the great article and photos!
