The eGO Cycle is emissions-free, nearly silent, and easy to ride. (Remember how comfy the saddle seat of your childhood bike was? Well, here it is again.) This light, compact vehicle’s electric motor is 10 times more cost-efficient than a gas-powered scooter; a single battery pack will get you 20 to 25 miles per charge. Check the hand throttle for two speeds: Choose “GO Fast” for a breezy 24 mph or “GO Far” for a gentle 18 mph. Note that licensing and helmet laws vary from state to state. In Massachusetts, where eGO is headquartered, the bike must be registered as a moped, and the rider must be 16 years old, have a driver’s license, and wear a helmet.

eGO Vehicles Prices: Bikes from $1,549; call or visit Web site for accessories (baskets, trailer, rain cover, etc.). Somerville, MA. 800-979-4346, 617-500-4355; egovehicles.com
