Pickpocket Falls is beautiful at any time of year. It’s a fascinating spot just by a bridge over the Exeter River. The sound of the rushing water is exhilirating.

Every year, Exeter celebrates our independence from Britain–but not on July 4th. Instead, they celebrate it later–on the day that a genuine contemporary copy of the Declaration of Independence arrived in Exeter via courier. It’s in safekeeping.

This parkway with its bandstand, paths and view of the river is used by residents throughout the year–Farmer’s Market, Independence Day celebrations and many town events. It’s a great place for a stroll.

In wintertime, residents ice skate on this pond. When the fishing is good, fathers take their children here to fish.

Daniel Chester French was born in Exeter, NH. He created this statue at the request of the residents–even though it was a financial loss to him. It’s beautiful–just like his “Seated Lincoln” at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, DC
