There are two types of people in this world. There are people who always have a song playing in their head and there are those who never have a song playing in their head. I always have a song in my head.
This got me to thinking about the song I was singing to myself when I was all of about 12 years old skiing moguls at the now defunct little Hickory Ski Center (tagline was “Mogul Madness” back then) when everything clicked for me. Suddenly, I figured out how to ski a perfect line. And it all was choreographed to a Cheerios commercial, the unsinkable taste of Cheerios.
I asked some ski industry folks to tell me their favorite songs that play in their head when they are skiing or riding (and I also asked them to tell me what the best ski deal going is since I thought you might like to know). I’ve listed their answers below.
I have a feeling that Pete Dowan — though I don’t know him that well except for a few email exchanges — is the type of person who always has a song in his head. He is a medically disabled songwriter who lives in Canada. He shared his song “Come on Let It Snow” with me and I think you would enjoy it too. So, please, read to the end of this posting so you can sing the words to his song. I think that if we all do this, the snow gods will listen and hopefully give us some snow. You know, March is historically one of the snowiest months in the northeast. Come on let it snow!
