Appledore Island Photographs | Alexandra de Steiguer
A beautiful collection of black and white images of Appledore Island, part of the Isles of Shoals, taken by caretaker/photographer Alexandra de Steiguer.
Last year the Peabody Essex Museum commissioned photographer Alexandra de Steiguer to create a portfolio of images of Appledore Island, one of the Isles of Shoals, as a contemporary counterpoint to their summer, 2016 exhibit – American Impressionist: Childe Hassam and the Isles of Shoals. As the caretaker on these islands for the past nineteen winters, and also a photographer, Alex brings a unique and personal perspective to a subject that has been her muse for these many years. Some of her work will be on display this summer at the Museum and is also included in the catalog for the Hassam exhibit. All of her images are personally printed in her traditional darkroom.
