On August 6 this year at the American Philatelic Society Stamp Show in Pittsburgh, the U.S. Postal Service will dedicate a new 42-cent stamp featuring The Long Leg, a painting done by Edward Hopper circa 1930, depicting Cape Cod’s Long Point Light, on Provincetown Harbor, in the background.

National Lighthouse Day is August 7, commemorating the 1789 passage of the congressional act that transferred responsibility for lighthouses to the federal government. For more information, go to:
