Get Rid of Rust Spots Clean rust spots off a countertop by rubbing in toothpaste (not the gel type) with your finger. Rub until the stain is gone, then rinse and wipe dry. Remove Skuff Marks To clean scuff marks off shoes, wipe them with toothpaste on a damp rag. This method will also work to get skuff marks off of some tile. Clean Brass Small brass objects can be cleaned with a little toothpaste (not the gel type).  Apply it with a soft, damp cloth or toothbrush, then rinse and dry. Get more tips on how to clean brass! Clean Glass You can eliminate some stains and scratches from glass by rubbing them with a little toothpaste on a soft, damp cloth. Rinse well, then dry with a soft cloth. Remove Water Rings from Wood If you have a water ring on a finished wooden table, squeeze a little toothpaste onto a damp cloth and rub the ring gently. Rinse and dry well.
