A spice bag is useful in making soups and sauces and in cooking meats or stews. Its ingredients lend their flavor to the dish and may then be easily withdrawn. A good genera] rule for its contents includes:
1 bay leaf
6 peppercorns
4 cloves
1 sprig thyme
1 sprig parsley
Tie them together in a square of cheesecloth or nylon net.
