Comfort food comes in many forms, and we all have our personal favorites, but it’s hard to deny the warm, soothing security of a bowl of soup — especially when the leaves are piling up outside and the wind’s rattling the windowpanes. Each of the dishes we’ve included here carries personal meaning for me — mainly because I’m cuckoo for good soup and I love to make it — but also because they all come from family, friends, and my own dog-eared recipe files.

Made Maha’s Lentil soup. It was wonderful. The subtle tastes were just great. It was very “thick” and required additional water each time I had a bowl. About the best lentil soup I have ever tasted! Hope Maha has more recipes. Thanks Maha!
