1 cup white sugar
1/2 cup flour (I use All-Purpose)
1/2 tsp salt
2 cups milk (I use 2%)
1 tsp vanilla
1 T butter
4 egg yolks (save the whites for the meringue and let them come to room temp while cooking the custard)
