Raisin Filled Cookies

There are no instructions to this cookie recipe, my Grandmother would make them by the bushels for Grandpa, my Dad and me!

Yield

Approx. 1 dozen

Ingredients

1 cup white sugar
1 cup brown sugar
1 cup shortening
1 cup sour milk
2 eggs beaten
1 teaspoon soda
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
4-1/2 to 5 cups flour

Mix and chill

Filling:
1 cup raisins
1/2 cup sugar
1 tablespoon flour
3/4 cup water
1/4 teaspoon salt

Cook and cool.

Instructions

As you can see, the instructions that were left to me by my Grandma were mix and chill and cook and cool! She would roll the dough quite thin and cut with a scalloped four-inch cutter, two per cookie. Place a spoonful of the filling on top of one cookie and then put a second cookie on top and seal it with a little water then pierce it with a vent hole. Bake at 350 degrees until slightly browned.
