1 pound ground beef
1/2 pound ground pork
1 cup buttermilk
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1/4 teaspoon dried sage
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon dry mustard
1/4 teaspoon fresh ground pepper
2 cloves garlic, minced
1/2 cup dry bread crumbs
1/2 cup steak sauce
1 teaspoon finely chopped fresh rosemary
rosemary sprigs, for garnish (optional)
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Combine the first ten ingredients in a large bowl and mix well. Put the mixture into an ungreased loaf pan. Spread steak sauce over the top of the loaf and sprinkle with chopped rosemary. Bake uncovered for 1 to 1-1/4 hours, or until no pink remains in the center. (If using a meat thermometer, the internal temperature should be 160 degrees F.) Pour off any liquid. Garnish with rosemary, if desired.
