1 1/2 lbs ground beef
2/3 cup oats, uncooked
1/2 cup diced onion
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp garlic powder
2 eggs
2/3 cup tomato sauce
Put ground beef, oats, onion, salt, garlic powder, eggs and tomato sauce in a large bowl. Mix together well with your hands.
MEATLOAF: Immediately put into a pan and bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour or until no pink shows in center. Cool 10 minutes before slicing and serving. Or put meat mixture in a 1 gallon freezer bag. Seal, label and freeze. To serve, thaw overnight and cook according to direction above.
MEATBALLS: Form meatballs with your hands or a small cookie scoop. Cover a rimmed baking sheet with foil for easy clean-up. Put the raw meatballs on the baking sheet. Bake at 375 for 20-30 minutes, until lightly browned and no longer pink in the center. Cool. Package the cooled meatballs in appropriate size freezer bags or rigid container based on your family size. Seal, label and freeze. To serve, thaw, bake at 350 degrees for 10-20 minutes until hot. If you are serving the meatballs with a sauce, put them in a baking dish and pour the sauce over them. Bake at 350 degrees for 20 -30 minutes, turning the meatballs occasionally while they are cooking. Serve as is, or over rice, pasta or potatoes, or make meatball subs.
