Lebkuchen Brownies with White Chocolate Frosting

Brownies:

Ingredients

1 cup unsalted butter, softened
1-1/2 cups brown sugar
3 tablespoons honey
1 teaspoon natural almond extract
1-1/2 teaspoons grated orange rind
4 eggs
1 tablespoon cocoa powder
1-1/4 teaspoons ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
1/2 teaspoon ground allspice
1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
1/2 teaspoon salt
1-1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup slivered almonds, toasted

Instructions

Cream together butter and sugar. Add honey, extract, and rind; beat until fluffy. Beat in eggs one at a time. Sift together cocoa, spices, salt and flour and mix in thoroughly. Add nuts and spread batter into greased 9×13 pan. Bake 30-35 minutes at 350 degrees F. until set. When cool, spread with frosting.

Frosting:

Ingredients

5-1/2 ounces premium white chocolate chips
6 ounces cream cheese, softened
1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
1-1/2 teaspoons grated orange rind
2-1/2 cups confectioner’s sugar

Instructions

Melt chocolate in double boiler and cool slightly. Beat cream cheese and butter, then add rind, sugar and chocolate. Beat until smooth.
