1/2 c. shortening
1 c. brown sugar
1 c. white sugar
2 beaten eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
1 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp baking soda
3 c. quick cooking oatmeal
1/2 c. nuts
Cream together shortening, b. sugar, and white sugar.
Add and beat well eggs and vanilla.
Add sifted flour, salt, and b. soda.
Add oatmeal, and nuts
Form into long rolls (or pack in vegetable cans with both ends cutout) wrap in zip lock bags and chill.
Cut in 1/4 in strip,(push out of can with smaller container) and bake at 350* for 10 minutesor until brown around edges. (these keep for days in the refigerator.
