1 pkg. yeast
1 1/2 c. warm water
1/2 c. sugar
1 egg, beaten
1 tsp. salt
1/2 c. melted butter, divided
5 c. all purpose flour, divided
3 garlic cloves, minced
1/2 c. Parmesan cheese
herbs of choice
Dissolve yeast in 3/4 warm water, add sprinkle of sugar in large bowl, let stand 5 min. till yeast bubbles. Add remaining water, sugar, egg, salt, 1/4 c. butter and 2 1/2 c. flour. Add remaining flour, a cup at a time to form a soft dough. Turn out onto floured surface and knead till elastic. Place in greased bowl, covering all sides and allow to rise for 1 hour in warm place. Preheat oven to 375. Combine remaining butter with garlic and herbs. Punch dough down and turn out onto floured surface. Roll out and cut into rolls or biscuits. Place on baking sheets, baste with butter mixture and sprinkle with Parmesan cheese. Bake 15 min. or till golden brown. Makes about 15 rolls.
