A classic combination kids love, these crumb-topped peanut butter and jelly bars are delicious on their own or in a bowl, topped with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Feel free to substitute your favorite flavor of jam or jelly.

Yield

16 bars

Ingredients

1/2 cup smooth peanut butter
7 tablespoons butter, softened
1 cup packed brown sugar
1-1/4 cups flour
1-1/4 cups quick-cooking oats
3/4 cup all-fruit variety strawberry jam

Instructions

Cream peanut butter, margarine, and sugar until light and fluffy. Add flour and oats and mix well. Press half of the mixture into an 8×8-inch baking pan. Gently spread jam over mixture. Layer remaining oat mixture over jam and press lightly. Bake at 300 degrees F for about 40 minutes. Cool and cut into squares.
