Chocolate Drops

Yield

2-1/2 dozen cookies

Ingredients

1-3/4 cups sifted flour
1/2 tsp. Baking soda
2 tsp. Baking powder
1/4 tsp. Salt
1/4 tsp. Cinnamon
1/2 cup shortening
1 cup brown sugar
1 egg
2 suqares (2 oz.) unsweetened chocolate, melted
1-1/4 tsp. Vanilla extract
1/2 cup buttermilk
1/2 cup chopped pecans

Instructions

Heat oven to 350 and lightly grease a cookie sheet. Sift together the flour, soda, baking powder, salt and cinnamon. With an electric mixer at high speed, cream together the shortening and brown sugar. Beat in the egg, melted chocolate and vanilla until mixture is light and fluffy. Add the dry ingredients alternately with the buttermilk, blending well. Stir in the pecans. Drop by teaspoonfuls onto cookie sheet. Bake 12 to 15 minutes.
