Chocolate Coconut Slice

Hello from Australia. This recipe is a quick and easy slice that we make to have with coffee or as a sweet treat. It is probably a variation of an American brownie recipe.

Yield

About 30 squares/small slices

Ingredients

1 cup flour
1/2 cup cocoa powder
1 cup brown sugar
1 cup dessicated coconut
1/2 cup melted butter

Icing
2 cups confectioners’ sugar
1 cup cocoa powder
1 tablespoon melted butter
boiling water
shredded coconut

Instructions

Sift flour and cocoa powder into a large bowl, add brown sugar and dessicated coconut, stir in melted butter and mix until well combined.
Press into a shallow slice tray (7 by 10 inches) and bake in 350 degee oven for 20 minutes. Remove from oven and and allow to cool before icing.

To make icing:

  1. Great recipe for kids and adult treat time. Easy to make. I would recommend telling people that the mixture appears quite dry before baking. I have actually made it a gluten free recipe by using gf product.
