Captain Jefferds Fancy French Toast

“This is a favorite dish served at breakfast or brunch. I like to accompany it with a good-sized country sausage and a slice of fresh orange twisted as a garnish. It is a variation of French toast, only I use French bread. It makes all the difference!” -The Captain Jefferds Inn, Kennebunkport, Maine

Ingredients

9 eggs
1 cup milk
3 tablespoons Grand Marnier liqueur
18 slices French bread (about 3/4 inch thick)
Confectioners sugar
Maple syrup

Instructions

In a large bowl mix eggs, milk, and Grand Marnier. Beat until fluffy. Soak several slices French bread in the mixture. Grease skillet or grill and cook toast on both sides until golden brown. Arrange 3 slices (overlapping slightly) on a plate and sprinkle with confectioners sugar.
