Buck’s County Spareribs

Ingredients

2-1/2 to 3 pounds spareribs
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1 1-pound can sauerkraut, drained
1 apple, cored and diced (with peel)
1 tablespoon sugar

Instructions

Cut spareribs into serving-size pieces. Sprinkle with salt and pepper.
Place on rack in baking pan. Brown in 400 degree oven for 15 minutes; turn
and brown on other side (about 10 or 15 minutes). Pour off drippings. Spoon
sauerkraut into bottom of slow-cooking pot. Top with apple, sprinkle sugar
over the apple and put the ribs on top.
Cover pot and cook on low for 6 to 8 hours or until meat is tender.
Makes 4 servings.
