Yield

7 cups

Total Time

10 minutes minutes

Hands-on Time

10 minutes minutes

Ingredients

1½ cups sugar
1½ cups boiling water
1 tablespoon grated lemon zest
1½ cups freshly squeezed lemon juice (about 6 lemons)
4 cups cold water
Lemon slices, for garnish

Instructions

Combine sugar and boiling water, stirring until sugar dissolves. Add lemon zest, lemon juice, and cold water. Mix well. Chill. Serve over ice and garnish with lemon slices.

Notes

If you want lemonade that doesn’t need to be chilled, use four cups of ice instead of cold water. Most of the cubes will melt, at which point you can add extra ice as needed.
