Banana Bread

This recipe has been tinkered with since I got married 18 years ago. My husband wanted a bread that tasted like the one his Grandmother K made, and this is the end result.

Ingredients

1 cup sugar
1/3 cup butter
2 eggs
4 ripe bananas, mashed
1/3 cup water
1 2/3 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon baking powder

Instructions

Heat oven to 350 degrees. Grease the bottom only of a loaf pan.

Mix sugar and butter. Beat in eggs. Stir in remaining ingredients. Pour into pan.

Bake for 1 hour and 10 minutes. Cool in pan for 5 minutes, then remove from pan to cooling rack.

  1. This is very close to the banana bread I make, only I substitute the sugar for 3/4 cup honey and reduce the cooking time by 10 minutes. I also like to add walnuts or pecans, and my husband loves it with chocolate chips.
