I have had this recipe for several years and not sure where I got it but it is one of our favorites any time of the year.

Ingredients

2 Cups Granulated Sugar
1 Stick of Butter or Margarine
1/2 Cup of Milk
1/3 Cup of Baking Cocoa
3 Cups of uncooked Oatmeal
waxed paper

Instructions

In a large saucepan, combine all ingredients except the oatmeal. Bring to a boil stirring frequently. Boil for 3 minutes.

Remove from heat and add oatmeal. Stir to blend. Let stand about 5 minutes and then drop by teaspoonfuls onto waxed paper to cool and set up.

Store thorougly cooled cookies in a tightly sealed container (if you don’t eat them all first).

Peanut Butter or coconut can be added to the basic recipe for variety.

  1. I added 2 tbsp. of all-natural peanut butter to boiling mixture, and used steel-cut oats. They were very chewy and very good!

  2. I also added natural creamy peanut-butter and only used 1•1/3 cup sugar (instead of 2 cups). I also split the bitter baking cocoa with Special Dark baking cocoa for a richer taste. > DonnaLouise

  3. I made these by following the recipe exactly ! Me and my daughter and my neighbor had them ate in no time!! They are our favorite cookies ever !!!! <3 🙂
