Rugged and rocky, Maine’s bold coast is appropriately named. In this season 3 segment of Weekends with Yankee (episode 305), we travel to the easternmost part of the United States in Lubec, Maine, marked by West Quoddy Head Lighthouse. This lighthouse is one of a kind, being the only candy striped lighthouse in the United States. The candy stripe has been guiding boats home since 1808, serving as a “day-marker” by day and shooting light up to 18 miles away at night.
