I cannot claim that I have a tradition just yet, but if I remember to do the same thing next year I will have an official spring ritual.

Last Thursday on my drive to work, I noticed there was still ice on Dublin Lake. However, on my drive home, the ice was out.

My potential tradition is that on Friday, the first day after ice out, and a gorgeous day at that, I had my first run around the lake this spring. The sun, the lake, the bits of green sprouting up here and there along the way gave me the hopeful outlook that spring really is here. (Also adding to my hopeful outlook is that I am still able to run around the entire lake despite a bit of hibernating this past winter!)

I do have some other spring traditions, like skiing at Killington, climbing Tuckerman’s Ravine…all on the schedule for upcoming weekends.

Ahh, spring.
