Located in the heart of Stowe Vt., this center of the community welcomes winter’s first snow

Well, this is, after all, Vermont. The leaves have not yet fallen, the pond hasn’t frozen, but the snow is here.

Every year, this one tree is the last to lose its leaves on this hillside. It symbolizes to me the strength to hang in there, Vermont style.

Taken just after sunrise in Vermont, the early morning light lasted about 10 minutes, then it gave way to fog.
