I remember Dunkin Donuts when it opened. I am from Newton, and we lived on Cottage Donuts, but sadly they went out of business, which left Dunkin’s. My favorite were or are, cinnamon, honey dipped (now called glazed) and chocolate ‘jimmies’, not sprinkles.
For some reason, I thought Dunkin Donuts was started in Chelsea, Massachusetts. I thought 2 brothers started and later broke apart and one went on to start the Mr. Donut chain. My family came from Chelsea, Massachusetts and this is what we always heard. The story goes that the best donuts in the world come from Chelsea, Massachusetts. Guess I learned something today.
I love Dunkin’s Ice Coffee, Toasted Almond or French Vanilla are my favorites. Even like the Old Fashion stick (cake donuts) when watching my weight
Worked at a Dunkin’ on City Line Drive outside Philly for awhile after a tour of duty in Nam as a “Donut Dollie” My family thought it a hoot -the connection to Donuts….Married a Rhode Islander and lived there to raise 6 kids…lots of Dunkin’ donuts…moved to Florida for hubby’s job, have to go miles for a Dunkin’…worth the trip!
Whatever happen to the original “dunkin donut” donut? It had a handle on it making it easy to hold onto when dunking.
group of 8-10 “over-the-hillers” meet at Dunkin 3 times a week in Ellicott City, Md….many, many years now……enjoy goodies, but also look forward to interacting with a great manager & staff who have never forgotten a name OR a repeat order !!
