Mainers have gotten creative when it comes to using their prized blueberries. In this season 5 segment of Weekends with Yankee (episode 505), we are in Scarborough, Maine, to meet Michael Terrien and Eric Martin, founders of Bluet blueberry wine. Maine blueberries are known for their complex flavors and high antioxidant capacity. Michael and Eric wanted to harness the benefits of native blueberries in addition to expanding the Maine blueberry market, supporting family-owned farms in the region. What resulted was a dry, sparkling, blueberry wine, reminiscent of summer nights in Maine.
