This winter, put down the skis and pick up the pickaxe. In this season 4 segment of Weekends with Yankee (episode 411) Richard is in North Conway, New Hampshire, to meet with experienced climbing guide Paul McCoy. On the legendary Cathedral Ledge, Paul and Richard prepare for a day of ice climbing. The sport started as an offshoot of rock climbing but is now established in its own right. In this segment, we watch Paul set a route up an icy waterfall and learn all about ice climbing. Richard, pickaxes and all, tackles the route with some helpful coaching. After a day of pushing themselves to the limits, they get to enjoy the stunning view of the snow-clad Mt. Washington Valley.
