There are modern-day superheroes in Salem, Massachusetts. In this season 4 segment of Weekends with Yankee (episode 402), we are in Salem to meet the people behind the North Shore Community Development Coalition, who have been giving a voice to low-income families and immigrants of the community. They now own nearly 20% of the housing stock in the neighborhood to provide rent-controlled housing and combat gentrification. They decorate their properties with world-class murals, attracting visitors and giving the residents pride in their community while keeping them safe from displacement. Not only does Salem have amazing public art, it also houses amazing people.
