The “do it yourself” Yankee mentality is alive and well at the world-renowned Simon Pearce studio in Quechee, Vermont. In this season 3 segment of “Weekends with Yankee” (episode 303), we visit the studio to witness one of the few remaining large-scale glassmaking operations in the United States. Started by Irish native Simon Pearce as a singular glass-blowing studio, it now has a restaurant and woodworking offshoot with multiple locations across the country. The Pearce family knows the value of working with high-quality raw materials, and to this day, every piece sold is made by hand, having a unique, rustic feel that encapsulates New England.
