Some college towns truly make the grade. In this season 2 segment of “Weekends with Yankee” (episode 9), Richard is in Hanover, New Hampshire, named by Yankee as the “best college town in New England.” He makes a stop at the classic diner Lou’s, walks a brief section of the Appalachian trail, and takes a peek in Baker Library in Dartmouth College to check out a room dedicated to the school’s most famous alumni, Dr. Suess. He finishes the tour at Marano Gelato for a taste of Italy in New England (sadly, they closed for good in 2020). With its many quirks and charms, Hanover is certainly the place to be.
