Few may know that Vermont was originally part of the country’s bread basket. In this season 2 segment of “Weekends with Yankee” (episode 206), Amy travels to Elmore Mountain Bread in Wolcott, Vermont, for some of the most sought-after bread in New England, made from local wheat that’s milled on-site. Baker Blair Martin and her husband Andrew Heyn share the inspiration behind their operation, which relies on local grain. The bread is shaped, scored, and baked in a woodfire oven for that rustic Vermont feel, and just like snowflakes, no two loaves are the same.
