Portland, Maine, has been crowned the “best food city in New England,” with more great restaurants per capita than any other New England city. In this season 2 segment of “Weekends with Yankee” (episode 204), Amy and Richard are in Portland to sample the best of the best. They start at The Holy Donut, an innovative gourmet doughnut shop that uses Maine mashed potatoes in the dough to produce a moist, tasty treat in dozens of classic and seasonal flavors. Next, they visit Duck Fat for a prime example of what a fry should be: crispy, salty, fluffy on the inside, and all-around delicious. Lastly, they stop at Mami, a restaurant delivering quality, mouth-watering Japanese street food. Be careful, this episode might just have your stomach booking a trip to Portland.
