The hotdog is an American classic, but not all dogs are created equal. In this season one segment from “Weekends with Yankee” (episode 106), Richard and Amy are in Providence, Rhode Island, at Olneyville New York System. Known for its iconic “hot wieners,” Olneyville has been operating for 70 years and is considered a legacy Rhode Island eatery. Owner Greg Stevens gives Amy an impromptu lesson on the art of crafting the perfect wiener, and she gets a primer on the unique lingo used at the institution. Here’s a pro-tip; order the beef-stew, the mouse-trap, and never say hotdog.
