In this season one segment from “Weekends with Yankee” (episode 106), Richard experiences the joy of minimalism at Philip Johnson’s Glass House. Considered one of the nation’s greatest modern architectural landmarks, the house is now part of a larger museum campus with 14 structures showcasing Johnsons’ impressive talents as an architect, curator, and patron of the arts. In a tour led by curator Irene Shum, we learn the history of the modernist movement, which started in this very spot in the 1940s, and the unique ways The Glass House melds together home and nature.
