Poppy Seed Rolls

When I grew up I had a Grandma’s favorite. I could not wait to see Grandma to see she had prepared this. I talked with her one day before she died and wrote it down. Now, I have done it and made it for church. And be careful, I have heard that this recipe will make you test positive for drugs. It is a pleasant exception to the rule.

Ingredients

  • DOUGH:
  • From HOW STUFF WORKS
  • stick of butter
  • 3/4 cup orange juice
  • one egg
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 3 c bread flour
  • 1/4 c granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon poppy seeds or coffee or cloves or dill or anything else
  • 2 tbsp active dry yeast
  • FILLING: For every cup of already milled poppy seeds use a 1/2 c of milk
  • sweetener -sugg.
  • 1/4 c honey
  • 1 tbsp of butter or margarine
  • 1 tsp. grated lemon peal or spice to which
  • stick of butter
  • 3/4 cup orange juice
  • one egg
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • Dough:
  • 3 c bread flour
  • 1/4 c granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon poppy seeds or coffee or cloves or dill or anything else
  • 2 tbsp active dry yeast

  • DOUGH:: 1 pakg yeast
  • 1/4 c warm water
  • 1 tsp sugar (let the yeast soak)
  • 1 c warm milk
  • 1/3 c sugar
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 c margarine or butter
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp grated lemon peel
  • 4 c flour
  • one egg yolk mixed with 1 tbsp of water (for glazeing before baking)
  • FILLING: For every cup of already milled poppy seeds use a 1/2 c of milk
  • sweetener -sugg. 1/4 c honey (and less is for John appetite more for laura)
  • 1 tbsp of butter or margarine
  • 1 tsp grated lemon peal or spice to which you flavor
  • 1/2 of chopped seedless raisins and/or chopped nuts (walnuts) you flavor
  • 1/2 of chopped seedless raisins and/or chopped nuts (walnuts)

Instructions

I have made this just about every way possible. Use the doughs and fillings per the one you bake for.
