This is a sweet and zesty batter. Hope you will enjoy it as much as we do!
4 to 6 firm green tomatoes
1/2 cup flour
1/4 cup cornmeal
2 tablespoons sugar
1/8 to 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
salt and pepper to taste
1/2 cup milk
Oil for frying
Cut tomatoes 1/4-inch thick. In a large bowl, mix all ingredients to resemble thick pancake batter. Dip in each tomatoe slice.
Heat up oil in a deep skillet or in a deep fryer and fry tomatoes on each side. Serve with hot sauce.
