Strawberry Pie Platter with Orange Sauce

A lovely dessert for a party. Be sure to pick over the strawberries carefully, using only those that are ripe yet firm.

Ingredients

Pastry for single-crust pie
1 quart fresh strawberries, cleaned and hulled
2 tablespoons sugar
Orange Sauce
Whipped cream

Instructions

Roll pastry into a 10-inch circle. Place on pizza pan or cookie sheet and flute edge after folding in 1/2-inch. Prick pastry all over with a fork and bake at 400 degrees F for about 10 to 15 minutes or until lightly browned. Set aside to cool. Place strawberries, stem ends down, in circles on the crust. Brush with Orange Sauce and sprinkle with sugar. Cut pie into wedges and serve with Orange Sauce and whipped cream.

Orange Sauce

Ingredients

1 cup sugar
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons cornstarch
1 cup orange juice
1/4 cup lemon juice
3/4 cup water

Instructions

In a small saucepan, mix sugar, salt, and cornstarch. Stir in juices and water. Cook, stirring constantly, until mixture boils and thickens. Boil 1 minute. Cool.
