Yield:

20-24 muffins

Ingredients

1-3/4 cups flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 cup butter, room temperature
3/4 cup pure maple syrup
1 cup sour cream
1 egg
3/4 cup chopped walnuts
Warm maple syrup (optional)
Confectioners’ sugar, for dusting (optional)

Instructions

Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Grease muffin tins.

In a small bowl, stir together flour, baking powder, and baking soda and set aside.

In a medium bowl, beat the butter until smooth, then slowly add maple syrup, beating constantly. Beat in sour cream and egg. Stir in walnuts. Add the combined dry ingredients and stir just until blended.

Spoon into the prepared muffin tins, filling two-thirds full. Bake 12 to 16 minutes. Cool in tins 5 minutes, then move to a cooling rack. For an extra-fancy presentation, dip muffins in syrup and dust with confectioners’ sugar. Serve warm.

  1. Just made this. I was feeling a bit lazy and just threw all the wet ingredient in my ninja bullet (lol) and blended all that together then slowly mixed it into the mixed dry ingredients. It was very good with black coffee. Not too sweet but the right amount of sweet for me. I think I forgot to put an egg in there haha, but it still held up nicely and was nice and moist.

  2. I used 3/4 cup of Brown Cow maple yogurt and 1/4 sour cream hoping to amp up the maple flavor but as others have noted the maple flavor is lacking. Moist but not flavorful. Will not make again.

  3. Everyone’s tastes is a big different.Dont give up on a recipe that caught your interest.Use a darker grade if maple syrup, add a bit of spice or some maple extract! This is a nice ,simple recipe& one I’ll keep for sure, thanks Yankee!

  4. I always add Maple extract as maple syrup looses its flavor when baking. Maple extract is a game changer
