1 slice ham, 1/2 to 3/4 inch thick, about 2 pounds
1-1/2 cups cider, divided
1-1/2 cups maple syrup, divided
1 package apple raisin stuffing
2 tablespoons butter
2 tablespoons oil
1/2 cup chopped onion
1/2 cup chopped celery
1 apple, cored and sliced
Place ham, 1 cup cider, and 3/4 cup maple syrup in baking dish. Bake at 325 degrees F for 30 minutes.
Prepare stuffing according to package directions. In skillet melt butter and oil; add onion and celery. Brown. Add 1/2 cup cider and 3/4 cup maple syrup. Add to stuffing. Mix well.
Take ham out of oven. Keep warm. Add apple to drippings and cook briefly. Arrange dressing and ham on platter and top meat with apple. Serve gravy on the side.
The Yankee cook suggests:
This recipe comes out very sweet and extremely moist. For fluffy stuffing and moderate sweetness, reduce syrup used with ham to 1/2 cup and make stuffing using 1/4 cup cider and 3 or 4 tablespoons syrup.
