Apple Sauce Cake

Ingredients

1 (32-ounce) can applesauce
1/4 cup baking soda
1 cup of raisins
1 cup, plus 4 cups all-purose flour
1 cup melted butter
1 teaspoon cloves
1 teaspoon nutmeg
1 teaspoon allspice
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 can crushed pineapple
4 eggs
2 cups sugar
1 small jar maraschino cherries
1 cup whole walnuts

Instructions

Preheat oven to 275 degrees F. In a medium bowl, mix applesauce with soda. In another separate bowl, combine raisins with 1 cup flour.

In a large bowl, combine all ingredients except cherries and walnuts; mix well. Pour batter into a large bundt pan. Top cake with cherries and walnuts. Bake two hours, or until toothpick inserted into center of cake comes out clean.

  1. Love this recipe. Out of the hills of Tenn. it did come, and the taste is better than soap on a mother’s hand.I’ll make this cake till heaven’s gates take its own all in.

  2. It was quite easy to make but needs more spices (more flavor), so I made it with 2 teaspoons cloves, 2 teaspoons nutmeg, 2 teaspoons allspice, and 2 teaspoons cinnamon. My children just loved it with vanilla ice cream. Thank you for this recipe.
