Apple Crisp

“We cut this into 9 squares and serve it hot for our complimentary breakfast.” Takes less than 10 minutes to prepare for the oven. -The Four Chimneys Inn, Nantucket, Massachusetts

Yield

Serves 9.

Ingredients

4 cups cored and sliced unpared apples
1/4 cup water
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/3 cup soft butter
1 cup sugar
3/4 cup flour

Instructions

Place apples in a 10-inch-square pan that has been lightly greased with butter. Sprinkle water, cinnamon, and salt over top. With a pastry blender, cut butter into sugar and flour and spread over apples. Bake at 350 degrees for 40 minutes.

  1. This has been my favorite AppleCrisp recipe for many years. I found it in a cookbook at a local public library and have been making it every fall since then. I love the crisp part do I double that part of the recipe and will sometimes add a little light brown sugar into the mix for a sweet crunch.❤️
