Best Ice Cream Stand in Massachusetts Richardson’s Ice CreamMiddleton

To see a family farm at its best, stop at Richardson’s, where a family member has milked cows every day since 1695. To taste ice cream at its best, order a cone from the farm’s ice-cream stand. Richardson’s has been making super-premium ice cream (16 percent butterfat) for nearly 70 years, focusing on perfecting classics like vanilla and chocolate while expanding the flavor offerings to include grapenut custard, frozen pudding, peanut butter Oreo—more than 50 kinds in all. Best Ice Cream Stand in New Hampshire Sanctuary Dairy Farm Ice CreamSunapee

While the atmosphere at Sanctuary Dairy Farm lends itself to a day of outdoor family fun—with farm animals, trees for climbing, and yard games—the ice cream is the thing that’s not to be missed. And after all, it’s not every day you’re served scoops out of a converted sheep barn! Find hard ice cream, gelato, soft-serve, and sorbet in a range of flavors from standard to extravagant, but the one concoction that no self-respecting New Englander should miss is the maple ice cream flavored with real New Hampshire syrup and mixed with chunks of maple candy and homemade fudge.

Not only is the venue cool (a 1966 Streamline trailer), but the scoops are phenomenal: The milk and cream are sourced from cows steps away, the ice cream base is homemade, and trimmings from goods made in the on-site bakery are often folded into the final concoctions.

Best Ice Cream Stand in Vermont Vermont Cookie LoveNorth Ferrisburgh

Founded in 2007, Vermont Cookie Love runs a year-round shop and production facility that sells fresh-baked cookies and frozen cookie dough, but it’s the maple creemees, sold from the seasonal walk-up ice cream, that make this place a summertime rock star. Also on offer is Vermont’s own Wilcox Ice Cream, topped with house-made whipped cream, hot fudge, and salted caramel or sandwiched between two cookies in a chewy, creamy pièce de résistance. 1. Bogies Ice Cream Stand at the driving range, located at Thompson Speedway in Thompson, Ct. is EXCELLENT! They serve Richardson’s Ice Cream and make sure you get your money’s worth. They have freshly made waffle cones (still warm) that can handle three scoops easily. They also have a decent food menu at reasonable prices.

  2. Rich Farm Ice Cream in Bristol, Ct. is the richest, creamiest ice cream I’ve ever had. Home made ice cream & cones. Generous portions of deliciousness.

  3. My favorite is Jordan’s in Belmont NH.so,good that my niece freezes some for me for when when I visit in November.

  4. Sanctuary Dairy in Sunapee, NH, is good but my vote goes to Wade’s Place, in Claremont, NH. Huge delicious cones…..on a warm day you need a cup to stand it in, it’s that big…

  5. Would love to see you mention where to find vegan ice cream, as well as vegan food options everywhere. The number of New Englanders who care about healthy and humane food is growing daily.

  6. What about Bedford Farms in Bedford MA (near Concord? I remember going there with my parents when I was a child. Their ice cream was delicious.

  7. I won’t argue with your selections, since I haven’t sampled their wares……BUT Goldenrod’s in Manchester, NH and the Townsend (MA) Ice Cream Factory are two places you will not regret stopping at to sample their goods!!!!!!!

  8. The best ice cream EVER in Connecticut is Tull Meadow Farms in West Simsbury (black raspberry chocolate chip)

  9. I don’t think you looked far enough in CT! These are both fantastic:
